86alexp 2 Posted April 17, 2016 Hello, can anyone help? The reverse gear I was going to fit into the BE3 Gearbox I'm building looks too thick! It doesn't quite come out of mesh when in another gear Has anyone come across this issue before? Has anyone turned down this gear before? Does the fork used to select reverse need to be changed too? What thickness is the thinner reverse gear and fork?? Mine is 15.6mm across the gear and 16.5mm across the fork
86alexp 2 Posted April 17, 2016 I should probably add, it looks to me like the best answer is to shave a mill or so of the non meshing face of the gear, but just at the teeth so as the selector still works. Therefore if I knew what thickness it was meant to be that would be helpful Thanks in advance
PhilNW 44 Posted April 18, 2016 Where has the reverse gear come from the original box?
86alexp 2 Posted April 19, 2016 A very good question! I had thought it was this one. I am going to have to strip another box to take a look. Does anyone know if the reverse idler gear ever comes out of mesh with the gearbox input shaft?
welshpug 1,661 Posted April 19, 2016 no, its constant mesh, you need to use the whole reverse arrangement that matches the input shaft, tooth count and profile vary quite a lot.
PhilNW 44 Posted April 19, 2016 Those dimensions match the Be3 bits I have
