Hi I have a 205 gti which has had a different engine and a be3 box put into it and the speedo is incorrect, is this because of the gearbox change and how do I correct it.

quite possible it was caused by the non 205 gearbox, to solve the problem fit the 205 speedo drive gears into your gearbox, you need to pull the rhs drive shaft out, remove the 3 13mm bolts from the speedo housing and pull the housing off.

 

gear oil will dribble out so you need a clean container to catch it.

 

swap the large cog over then refit the housing, also remove the 11mm bolt and pull the speedo drive housing out and swap the smaller gear.
