Oil Cooler?

Hello,

I have two engine, one I bought stripped in boxes the other complete.

I am now rebuilding the stripped one and have have found some differences. One has the oil filter attached direct to the block the other has a an oil cooler sandwich plate

Which is correct for a 1.9 mi16 or is it an option?

Also my sandwich plate has threaded unions where as picture I can find show a smooth finish for a push fit and jublie clip?

As standard a 1.9 Mi16 has a block attached water/oil cooler (Modine).

 

The plate in your photo is a Mocal one for use with their aftermarket air/oil cooler radiators.
