Out of interest Tom, have you tried the SKF 'shafts in a car with a plate diff? When I last tried to find some a few years back, it seemed a lottery as to which aftermarket/recon shafts were going to be OK with a plate diff and which sounded like they were about to break any moment with the amount of banging and knocking. The ones that sounded horrendous with the plate diff were fine on an open diff, although I had my doubts as to longevity given the presumably dubious tolerances.
