Looking For Dkz Coolant Hose

Recommended Posts

[edit -- mistyped the engine in the subject line and can't edit it. This is the DFZ engine, not the DKZ.]

Hi all.

I've owned a 1990 Japanese-spec GTI 1.9 with the low-compression DFZ cat engine for a year. Only one of a few 205s in North America.

It has the water-cooled oil cooler fitted, with two water hoses running from the top radiator hose down to the oil cooler. One of the hoses that runs down to the oil cooler needs replacing. Is the whole thing a unit? or can each hose running to the cooler be replaced separately? I've spent a while searching the forum and the internet more generally to try to figure out what hose/part number to order, and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Any suggestions? Also, any recommendations on a good/reliable place to order parts would also be welcome.

Thanks!

If it is the same part that's on mine then yes, it is one piece. I repaired mine by using some copper plumbing T's to replace the section where the pipes join.

Having said that, it may well be still available from Peugeot, I do see them on eBay from time to time or put a wanted post up here. No doubt someone here will have one.

Can't help you with a part number I'm afraid but sign up to servicebox and you'll find all the info you need, it's a great resource.

do you have the remote mounted filter&heat exchanger or block mounted?

Beware that there is a late and early model of the set up, depending on which way the pipes face on the water cooler. All 1.9L cars in Aus had the water-oil cooler, in DFZ and DKZ configurations.

Thanks all. I got in touch with Baker, and they have some silicone replacement hoses for that one -- I may go that route.

Regarding servicebox: I went to public.servicebox.peugeot.com and can see how to log in, but no place to register. Am I missing something?

Does the Baker hose have the necessary 'funnelling' in the centre section..?

What do you mean by funneling?

The plastic section of the original hose narrows to divert water through the heat exchanger pipes - I would just check that the silicone replacement (which appears to be one piece from the pics I've seen) also has this functionality. and is not just tee'd off.

You'd hope/assume it would be designed as per the original, but worth checking before parting with cash.
