Strut Top Mount Positioning

Recommended Posts

mowflow

I've assembled my new front struts but am confusing myself regarding sticking them in/on the car.

The standard top mounts with the 3 studs have one side thicker than the other 2 and 2 sides have extra holes. Do the mounts need to go in the strut towers a certain way? IE, should the thicker side face front/back

Ive fitted a few parts upside down and back to front so have learned it's best to ask.

the two holes in the mounting line up with the extra two in the strut tower, they are for an old cable type spring compressing tool.

One of the sides between mounting studs is thinner. This faces towards the engine bay. Thats how I always align them anyway. The extra holes do line up like that.

Glad I asked. Thanks guys.

Also good to know what those extra holes are for. I did wonder.
