Question About Master Cylinders..

Hi All,

 

Putting a hydraulic handbrake on the car has made the pedal travel on my peugeot a little ridiculous, i'm thinking if I put a bigger master cylinder on this would probably cure the problem.. my question is can i bolt the master cylinder from a 1.6/1.9 GTI straight onto my 1.4 servo, or would i need to replace that too?

you probably still have air in the system, fitting a hydraulic handbrake shouldn't make the pedal any longer.

 

Standard gti MC is 20.6mm, others are 19mm so you'll have a reasonable decrease in pedal stroke from the extra surface area, though a lower outright clamping force on the pistons, the larger bore unit is otherwise identical
