Best Place For A Service In Northern Ireland?

Recommended Posts

Morning

I would like to get someone who knows these cars to do mine a once over, service, check for lose earths, change timing, adjust clutch etc.

Ive had it serviced by my local guy who has been doing my cars for a few years, but i think he's just doing the oil filters and oil. I know if i took it to someone they would "tweak" a few of my issues and all will be a lot better. Some experiences below..

Seems to be running very ritch, strong smell of petrol, both inside and out.. (I think its coming from the exhaust)

Sometimes when you try to start - nothing (reds only) then try a few times and she starts (If i slip it into gear & try start then clutch it will start right away) - Doesn't happen all the time.

seems to rev a little high on idle, will tick over fine though.

had issues getting her into reverse, seemed to grind .. once my mechanic adjusted the clutch its fine, however seems a little slower? is that possible?

May just be the radio is on the way out, or could be related to an earth issue? My radio will only work when the car heats up? or randomly may be fine on start.

Im aware they were never a nice drive & can be a bit jumpy, but i know this can run better.

Economy isn't great, prob related to the timing /running rich.

Although this isn't my daily, i love it & would like it running 100% if there is no input for a mechanic in Norn Ire, if anybody could provide something for me to give to my mechanic?

Thanks

Get a Haynes manual and get learning! Lol. Though I'm only part joking, you may be able to sort a few of these issues yourself if you've the time and patience. I knew how to change a wheel when I bought my first gti. A year later I was replacing suspension myself etc.

I found out the hardway that Peugeot main dealers are not the place to go, but I was young and foolish and an ABS equipped 1.6 was a mistake.

Have you asked this question on reallymeansounds? There are a few NI gti owners on there who know their stuff.

I already have the PDF manual ... thanks but id rather get someone who knows the cars, I don't have enough spare time to "learn" how to fix them, would rather it done right.

Its not a car that I use a lot, so its no biggy if I have to wait
