Pump Question

Recommended Posts

erbs

I have removed the old fuel pump expecting some petrol to squirt out when I released the pipes from the pump but no pressure was released

I'm changing it because I feel the old pump may be a bit weak as it is the original Bosch pump (30 years old) is not up to the job.

Should it hold pressure when not running? I changed the regulator as it was faulty and now holding at 3 bar.

pressure will bleed off over time, you'll have negligible pressure after a day or two

is that a short term fix?

no rush to use my car, just like to know i can use it

should make a difference i hope or at least be more reliable and solve the hot start problem i was having

the new pump comes with the filter, do i still keep that on? or just use the original one with the pump housing? or even use both together as a bit of belt and braces.

with new pump in, all is well, starts on the button when hot and don't get the little hesitation when trying to sit at 30 or 40 mph

oil change and filter done, needs a wash then use the thing

for future reference the bosch pumps 0 580 314 075 are too big for the pump housing that member Allan makes by 3mm, so if you have a bosch, the housing will need to be made slightly bigger to suit the pump adapter

Walbro pumps fit fine
