Gti6 Downpipe Flange

Evening All,

 

I've bought an exhaust downpipe to cut up and modify to fit my GTI6 engine, it's made by euroflo and it's really crappy quality, poor welds etc. I could live with that but I've just discovered that the flange is not as deep as a genuine item and the manifold/downpipe gasket doesn't sit down into the downpipe fully like the original did. The gasket is a genuine part.

 

Are all aftermarket downpipes like this?

 

Has anyone had this issue before?

 

Do I have a hope in hell of getting it to seal?

Get a dirt cheap 2nd hand down pipe and cut it up?

I think I may have to, but I'm hoping I don't have to.

whats the pipe diameter like on that?

It's a later type with the olive fitting and that particular section is 2.5 inches.
