Jetronic To Motronic

would it be possible to upgrade the ancient jetronic to motronic on my phase 1?

 

if so how much would it cost??

There's not an off the shelf setup that'll work with a 1.6 engine without a remap, which considerably increases complexity/cost.

there is a system on late 1.6 xu's in 405's (and possibly very late auto 205's)

 

it should run a 1.6 better than an ecu intended for a 1.9, however they do run a particularly mild cam and small bore inlet to peg the power down to about 89 bhp IIRC, so still wont be 100%

If you're talking about the XU5M engine then isn't that only single-point injection?

A Motronic setup that's properly mapped to the engine idles lovely, hot or cold. How an ill-matched one would fair in that regard is another matter entirely of course.

 

That said, Jetronic in good working order should idle pretty well, especially on 1.6's. If it doesn't, there's something amiss somewhere as per some of the suggestions in your other thread(s)
