Subtle/oe Look Headunits

Any suggestions for a replacement headunit that is in keeping with the rest of the 205 GTI interior? Not too fussed about it having the latest features, but even RDS would be nice!

I think some of the older Sony ones have stood the test of time and have the least amount of flashing lights on them. What do you want from it? CD player? Does it need to play MP3's? Do you want an Aux imput?

I'm another one that likes Alpine, iv had them for years now, they all have a very similar look and the one iv got more (which is pretty old) has something like a million colours for the illumination so you can colour code it ;-)

I fitted a CD player from a 306 in mine, looks semi standard, I only really listen to the radio if at all. Only reason for the purchase was the car didn't have one fitted when I bought it.

If your looking at aftermarket stereo would not consider anything other then an Alpine.

Incorrect! Blaupunkt are the boys and what I'll be fitting to my van for DAB, Bluetooth etc, the lot basically.

Cheers - I'll have a look at the Alpines. Some of the Clarions and Blaupunkts are quite subtle.

I found the Clarion unit below for £60 which looks quite subtle I think - no CD player, but radio, MP3 and aux plug.

If that had DAB and Bluetooth I'd be all over it.

It's a FZ102E by the way.

A couple of non-Alpine/Clarion/Blaupunkt options I've seen.

Slightly more bling, but it's not expensive and has DAB, and both the display and the button colours could be adjusted to orange/red:

I like the alpine units

Me too everything in mine apart from components is Alpine.

Subtle look is normally expensive, have you considered a Becker Mexico??!!!

Alpine head units are traditionally more expensive then their counterparts, but you get what you pay for, I have had Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony and Blaupunkt headunits in the past and honestly they are ok but I would never recommend them.

I would always opt for an Alpine headunit that matched my budget, from personal experience they also have very good after sales service.
