Gti Front Struts On Xs

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about getting some challenge spec bilsteins for my xs. I'm also considering swapping to a gti subframe at some point.

I know the gti struts have a ARB tab which wouldn't be used on an xs but are they the same otherwise?

Can I fit gti front struts incase I fit a gti subframe at a later date?

Yer fit no problem, just make sure you get them on the correct side! You also need to move the gear selector arm for use with the TU not XU if you do fit the GTI subframe.

I've fitted it all up and the ride is not really what I expected.

The lowered springs went onto the B4 dampers without needing a spring compressor. When I went to put them on the B6 dampers, I needed to compress them to get them on as the lower spring support plate is a good inch further up the shock. I don't know if this would have been different on an xs B6 or are they dimensionally the same beside the ARB droplink mount?

So the car now sits around standard height, which I'm not too fused about, but the ride is pretty harsh and I think the damper is topping out. It's a pretty expensive experiment and I'm a bit hacked off.

I think best bet now is to try and get hold of some springs the same length, but slightly softer that will sag a bit more and make a less crashy ride.

Does anyone know where I can get custom made springs, as I think I'm passed a standard solution now.

On a positive note, I can replace a shock in about an hour now, start to finish!

I run these on my rallye which is the same setup as the xs with 160lb springs (standard height), i think that they are supposed to go hand in hand with eachother... you can get the springs themselves on fleabay cheap as chips just search 'peugeot 205 gravel spring' :D
