nveeate 78 Posted February 10, 2016 This looks like a nice, clean, low mileage 1.6 GTI.....but being advertised at £22,995! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-Peugeot-205-1-6-GTi-3dr-/222020377572?hash=item33b1721be4:g:Vq0AAOSwUuFWu0yW A check of the reg number shows it being advertised approx 10 months ago for £10,850 - steep even before it doubled in value! Alan77 78 1 Cars Posted February 10, 2016 Its in Wimborne, i might go and check it out. Is it the one that got exposed on here for having a smashed rear end?...
dcc 855 Posted February 10, 2016 Have you seen their other motors? Wow!
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted February 10, 2016 It does look a nice one. I'd offer them at least £2500.
ATK 140 1 Cars Posted February 10, 2016 Pretty sure thats the one that was rear ended and the owner had a 9k payout?
jackherer 543 Posted February 10, 2016 Have you seen their other motors? Wow! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222019450057 Hmm, £23k for a 205 GTI or £16k for that...? I like 205 GTIs but I'd take the V10, those things sound amazing and you'd have enough left over to buy a couple of 205 GTIs that you wouldn't be scared to actually drive.
nveeate 78 Posted February 10, 2016 Pretty sure thats the one that was rear ended and the owner had a 9k payout? Nope, different car (assuming you mean this: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=160351&hl=payout&do=findComment&comment=1426655 )
David1982 11 1 Cars Posted February 10, 2016 AP classics have a white car coming on at 25k any time now. These cars are late teens now for either a good original or a proper nice resto. Surely this is good for all you guys who own 205's
ATK 140 1 Cars Posted February 10, 2016 If good originals are late teens I'm sticking mine up for sale...etc No way, not yet. Usual debate.
Bobbafett 49 2 Cars Posted February 10, 2016 I love my 205, a lot, but there are so many cars i'd spend 20k on before a 205!
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted February 10, 2016 Either you have enough want for a certain car to spend that, or you don't. Most of us don't, we've mostly owned cheap 205's and can't imagine paying more than a couple of grand tops! Just look at prices of other cars. Audi Quattro turbos, BMW E30 M3s. Both of the above are close to home, my Dads owned a Quattro since I was a kid, I love it, but having driven it a fair bit, would I pay £25k? No. A good mate bought an E30 M3 for £5250 in 1999. Awesome! But would I pay £25k? Again no. In both cases you have to WANT one for what they are, not for the outright speed. To modern standards neither are especially fast now with around 200-220bhp.

Mac Crash 78 1 Cars Posted February 11, 2016 In both cases you have to WANT one for what they are, not for the outright speed. To modern standards neither are especially fast now with around 200-220bhp. Totally spot on in all you said... my mate has 2 S4's... a 95 plate V6, chipped, exhaust, dump valves etc, around 350bhp, and he just bought a more modern one which is now in the main dealer with a gearbox fault... needless to say, a big Audi fan all his days, he swears his old UR Quattro was better balanced and quicker through the corners... mind it was a £28,000 car when new, all those years ago... think they were all hand built too.... then there is the S1, damn.... probably the most desirable car in the world as far as I'm concerned. Andy_C 50 Posted February 12, 2016 Love the E30 M3 and Sierra Cosworrh but both are now way out of my reach so naturally I regard them as overvalued. That 205 is overpriced - they aren't at that level yet and the dealer is jumping on the bandwagon, as others are. They'll no doubt sell if for not far off the sticker price.
