Spraying Trim ( Arches Etc.)

Recommended Posts

mmcgtk

Hi all,

Im looking for a long term solution to dyeing/spraying my grey trim black.

Ive tried spraying the trim- cleaning with thinners-plastic primer and matt spray.

Which works ok for a few months then peels

I dont want to clear coat my plastics, as I want to keep an oem matt finish

Is there any plastic stains/dyes paint on the market for this job?

Thanks

I've had my kit/bumpers/badges/sunroof trim done by a paint shop.

Cleaned, plastic primed, texturised, and painted, the paint got a matting agent added.

Absolutely no flakes and they look OE.

(Cost about £600)

I did mine with the flexible vinyl paint from Halfords about 7 years ago. It adheres to the plastic really well and still looks fine.

I painted mine using special automotive bumper paint, couple of years ago now. It's already starting to flake in places.

I would strongly suggest you use the plasticare trim dye which is available cheap through this forum. Still working well on the spoiler and other parts I used it for. Wish I'd used it on the bumpers and trim too...

Is Plasticare still avaliable from here?

Seems to have disappeared from The Bay.

Hmm, perhaps not. The ordering link doesn't seem to function anymore.

Could I suggest you either post in the group buys thread, or contact Cybernck to see what the situation is?

I restored some spoilers for a few people on here a couple of years ago using the U-POL plastics kit which comprised of a cleaner, adhesion promoter, primer/filler, texture coat(if needed) and a top colour coat. Their grey was an excellent match and actually said Peugeot grey on the tin when it arrived.

The spoiler is still in good condition, but it is only two years <_< .

However I was very impressed by the whole system, may be worth doing a bit of research on it.
