Sad Question

when the car has been running and the sad valve is fully closed,when the engine is turned off,does the sad valve slowly open as the engine gets colder?

 

or does it stay in the closed position say for example till the next day and when you start the car the valve slides open.

 

just taken mine off and it was partially closed,cleaned it and made the adjustment but is now in the closed position, should it naturally spring open or does 12v need to do that?

It should default to open when cold. The flap closes with heat, both conducted heat from the engine block and heat from the integrated heating element (the 2-pin electrical connector)

if i was to put some heat on it it should close, at the moment its cold and its still closed

i cleaned it all out but for some reason it wants to stay in the closed position,no big deal but do these fail??

What did you do when you "cleaned" and "made the adjustment" on it? I've cleaned several and they've always worked fine afterwards...

Cleaned with carburetor cleaner
