Danez 6 1 Cars Posted February 3, 2016 I've been lookin at getting some new gear linkages. Specially these ones from pug1off with the short shifter: http://www.peugeot-tuning-parts.co.uk/205-gti-be3-uprated-steel-gear-linkage-kit-309.html Anyone had any experience with these? Any good? Also with the short shifter is it worth it? Or is it personal preference? I've had a look and everyone who seems to have a short shifter installed to thier car much prefer the shorter throw and find it to be a better experience once used to it. Whaddya reckon? welshpug 1,671 Posted February 3, 2016 I don't have one, but I have replaced most of the bushes in the system with standard bushes (about £5 ) and some Pugracing linkages.
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted February 3, 2016 No experience of the above and haven't got a quickshift, but have these fitted to mines which are all alloy, heavy duty but light (and won't rust). http://bakerbm.com/205.php?data=gearrods205 or (and the bits to make your own linkages) http://www.constella.co.uk/home/index.php/shop/gear-linkages-quickshifts/group-n-linkages Pug1off's just look like a bit of galvy screwed rod with a bit of heatshrink melted over them from the pics..... Is this for the be3 gearbox then? Or does the be1 and be3 share the same linkages?
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted February 3, 2016 I'm not sure, I think they're the same but can't remember to be 100% sure.

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted February 3, 2016 Look in my Ebay shop, the Q/S is dead simple to DIY if you need one, All the rods I supply use Rolled threads and plated, as said the 1off looks like a bit of threaded bar which is weak and bends with ease.
AlexRS2782 136 1 Cars Posted February 3, 2016 I've had a set of Miles gear rods fitted on my car since late '09 and they are still going strong Fairly certain there's a short shifter kit on the car as well (unsure of who made it) but the two together with a new set of bushes in the right areas makes for a nice precise gear change. Capa 0 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm a bit intrigued by this - personally I find the steering wheel - gearstick distance in the 205 pretty much spot on, and quite enjoy the slightly porridgey gearshift. Let us know how you get on with it.
Ozymandis 97 Posted March 3, 2016 Quickshift I do as in this link for a shorter lever throw. and fit two new pivot bushes. i tried a set of all metal rods on my girlfriends car and she didn't like them as they rattle.
cheesegrater 43 1 Cars Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I just extended the bottom ball on my shifter. Easy and free haha. Edited March 7, 2016 by cheesegrater
Ozymandis 97 Posted March 7, 2016 I just extended the bottom ball on my shifter. Easy and free haha. Thats unusual, my adjustable spanner has no balls on it. My gear lever has one though.

acox99 74 1 Cars Posted March 7, 2016 I bought a ball joint and extended the L shaped gear quadrant on the output/ gear box side. It's the longer arm facing forward. That way if I didn't like it as a shorter throw I still retained the original position. It seems to Work well.
