Silky 33 1 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 Anyone seen these before? Wanted to strip out my electric windows and go back to manual mechs as I know they'll work and be more reliable. My elecs were very slow. Bought a pair of manual mechs and today went to strip the elec out and swap them over. Looking at then closely, works out the elec I have is an aftermarket bodge on where they overlapped the winder mechanism handle part. Loosened off the mechs, unbolt this mess and put some winder handles on. Very pleased to see they're working fine.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted January 31, 2016 I've seen similar things I the past. You are lucky as on the car I had, the splined shaft had been chopped back and the handle would no longer go back on.
Silky 33 1 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 Very lucky. Was just happy that I didn't have to take all the mechs out and do a full swap. They look like cheap rubbish
jackherer 543 Posted January 31, 2016 Were the switches aftermarket or did they wire them up to Peugeot switches?
Silky 33 1 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 Wired into Peugeot switches. Looked standard from the outside.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 Got some on a car at work and have seen them a couple of times, must had been a period Halfords jobbie but odd as I have always seen them with Pug switch's, I could do with the pass side even if slow as the car I have does nothing and has been glued up
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted January 31, 2016 Miles I wonder if they were a dealer retro fit for elec windows? The ones I saw also had the proper Peugeot switches.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) Ive got a set out of a car i just sold today exactly the same, the plastic cogs that connect the mechanism to the window winder usually chew up and then people try gluing it together or body filler and the whole thing just jams up solid then. This is the solution to electric rear windows for the cti. You can buy them on ebay now Edited January 31, 2016 by Slo
