Fan Wiring Help

Recommended Posts

mowflow

Fitting the radiator and fan to the car today and am stumped by the loom.

Just to check it all. The Fan has a grey 2 pin plug which the loom plugs onto. The black plug goes into the main power/shunt box thing on the headlight panel. The loom then has a big resistor like thing that clips ?somewhere? I've then got the following which I can't suss.

This weird blue plug with metal clips and a small brown multiplug.

This earth that goes somewhere

These three are all on the same loom.

TO help add a bit of confusion I also have this red plug labeled "FANS" coming off what appears to be the headlight loom. No idea where that's meant to go

Yeah, I got Miles to label my loom and I still can't figure where to plug things. What hope do I have? Got to admit. I completely forgot there even was a fan/cooling loom and spent about an hour just trying to force the loom/fan connector straight into the shunt box.

earth to front panel by ns headlamp, blue plug to thermoswitch under top hosr

ignore red plug, only used for twin fan models with a relay setup.

Brown plug is a test point, not connected to anything

oh and the resistor goes in a metal clip which should be on the top lip of the radiator, dont use a cable tie as they get hot.

Thanks Mei.

Thermo switch under the top hose? Is that on the passenger side? There's a large threaded hole on the driver side of the radiator near the bottom which i assumed was for a thermo switch/sensor of some sort. Not sure this wire will reach to that point on the Nissins radiator I have bought.

the hole by the bottom hose is for early cars, should be a bung with the rad to block that up.

Yes, passenger side just underneath the top radiator hose.

Early 205's had the thermoswitch on the drivers side low down, hence there is a threaded hole there too.
