205 Gti Ew10 - Converted Now Stage 2 Engine Plan

Hi All,

During 2015 I built a 205 GTI ew10 track day and potential race car for my dad. Runs jenvey 48 itb's, cat cams, custom exhaust manifold (most annoying bit of conversion) and emerald k6. Made 190hp and 170lbft torque at 7200 rpm. We are tweaking the suspension now as the rear beam is probably to stiff, but I'm thinking of building a new engine. (The first was a proof of concept)

Can anyone advise if a 2.2 ew12 block will mate to a 206 ew10jfs 180 head?

yep, use the ew12 hg and bolts, rh engine mounting bracket, it is a bit taller which is all in the block above the mounting point so it doesnt sit any lower.

Was this simply because the standard manifold didnt fit in the 205 engine bay, or was it because you wanted something to add a bit more performance?

I'm slowly getting through all the jobs on my EW10 conversion, but this is the one that is puzzling me so far - I'm not sure what involved to get it to fit as I haven't dropped the engine in yet!

depends if you have a j4s manifold or not, and where the joint to the downpipe sits, its a shorter block than an xu.

Yep, its a J4S manifold.

I went for a custom made as the standard ew10 manifold wouldn't line up with the 205 exhaust tunnel.

Ew conversion is the way forward I think, they are some readily avaliable.

 

Ref the ew12 block, how much taller is it? Is there any measurements avaliable?

Would you be able to give a little more info about your current 190hp EW engine?

 

I'm giving serious consideration to using EW over the 1.9 Mi16 in the 205.
