Dampers For Rear Turrets

Have searched with no answers.

 

Where are people sourcing the dampers for rear turrets? What length is being used?

 

I have some adjustable ledas for the front.

Depending on the length of your turrets, most conversions use Escort Mk2 shocks

I don't think Escort shocks are the best solution. It's quite tricky and time consuming to get right. My best advice is buy a kit from Colin Satchell.

The escort ones all looked to long when I started looking into it. I've got a pair of aluminium bodied pro-techs to try when I eventually do mine.....

I contacted gaz and they have plenty of suitable dampers.

 

Just supply them with the length of damper needed at ride height and they supply a suitable damper with the correct open/closed lengths.

Why? for a bit of sheet metal work?

Well what else is there? Stud for the rear of the stub axle and some measuring?

 

Either way I'll be doing it all myself. Minus drilling and tapping the rear of the stub axle.

Droop calculation vrs shock open/closed length vrs spring rate vrs top of shock mounting point. Just four variables really. I've got Spax shocks, did all the work myself but I'm not happy with the droop.

Virtually Zero droop tends to be the trend on a lot of front wheel drive circuit cars. What did you go for peter?

Now that is the million dollar question and one I've been sworn to secrecy on. It's not zero however, as ideally you need to keep the tyres on the ground.
