Mi16 Crank Seal Issue

Recommended Posts

Bakes100

Hi,

I had a leak from my crank seal at the flywheel end. Ive removed gbox, flywheel etc and the original crank seal. It turns out at some point in its life the wrong sump bolts were fitted / overtightened and its pushed the end face of both the holes out the other side (crank seal mating surface). This in turn has pushed the seal out of shape causing it to leak.

Luckily it hasnt split the bearing cap, only popped two holes through it. I have cleaned the seal mating surface thoroughly, would I be ok fitting a new seal maybe with a little sealant on the outer edge? Or would this just leak again?

I understand the cap cannot be replaced as its matched to the block.

Any help would be appreciated.

as long as you change the bolts and the recess is still round, or you restore its shape it should be fine.
