Would these be worth buying?

 

The bearings are the earlier type roller needle bearings.

Don't really know as the parts in the link are unboxed and displayed on a kitchen worktop.

I've used the kits from frauto Poland which came with SNR bearings and french shafts and was happy with the quality.

Don't forget the other little bits you need for a beam rebuild, like the yellow foam rings, mounts, offset washers, slotted torsion bar screws etc...

Although I haven't bought any individual bearings from Peugeot for a while I bought a repair kit in November which had the correct type of outer bearing but newer fewer roller bearings on the inner set.

 

Neat Autos sell a better bearing & seals kit on ebay for £19.99 which I bought for my old 306 beam recently when I rebuilt it for kezzer's car & both are the type with more needle rollers.

 

There are several kits on ebay that appear to show the correct more needle bearings for less than that, iirc I have one on my watch list from france which has everything in that auction for around £80.

Just opened up a spare SNR box which are available on ebay.

 

The outer bearing is stamped FRANCE

 

And the inner bearing is stamped INA GERMANY

I got an Italian brand of rebuild kit,"Original Birth" to have a look.

 

They had another brand of bearings Ive not seen before.

"Lobo" they are marked

 

They have the full set of rollers in both, but the outer only has a seal at one end of the bearing.

 

I put a set in a diesel hack axle, and put a grease nipple on it as some will hopefully get to the outer bearing.

See how it goes.

 

The Birth kit has the seal runner, and the seal outer holder in unplated mild steel and are garbage. I left them outside in the rain, bright orange rust spots by morning.

 

The seal is slightly thicker with a bigger outer lip. I liked them.

lets hope it doesn't just perish quickly

 

I,d be interested to see or hear about one of the french kits that are on ebay, if anyone's had a look?
