Cherry Pink 205 With A Hint Of Over Spray...

Recommended Posts

Lukespeed

Afternoon,

My 205 spent 8 years parked in a workshop before I saved it from the scrap man, unfortunately the previous owner decided to leave a small amount of over spray all over the car whilst sat in the workshop.

What product would be best to remove the over spray? Iv been told a g3 cutting compound would do the trick?

Also once iv removed said over spray, what would be best to get the car more cherry red than cherry pink?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

I had this on one of my old 205's when in storage. I used a meguires clay bar kit which worked pretty well. Im sure some G10 would do the job, if not G3 will definitely get it off, just be careful on corners or any proud edges if you've not used it before.

All cutting compounds would remove it, so to would some solvents (depending on what type of paint the overspray is and what type of paint your car is).....risky business if you don't know.

Some cutting compounds are more aggressive than others (depends how bad it is) and all will bring it back to more cherry red than pink in the process. You may need to finish off with some kind of wax etc.

Will you be machine polishing or doing by hand?

You can find some great videos on YouTube.

Cheers for the advice, I shall be doing it by hand I think, one of my friends has just machine polished his car and has burnt through in quite a few places and I don't want to risk it, I'm well experienced with the spanners but not with detailing!

As a complete novice to detailing I wouldn't know the difference, he used one that looked like a 9inch grinder but with adjustable speeds and obviously a buffing pad rather than a disc.

That is a bloody impressive job on that corsa! Can't believe how well that's come up!
