Scrapping A Car

Recommended Posts

I phoned my local scrappy earlier to ask them to come collect my rolling stripped down saxo.....

They want me to pay them! apparently there is no money in metal at the minute.

Yep, price of scrap is on the floor so it doesn't surprise me that they're not interested in collecting a rolling shell of an already small, lightweight car.

yeah, myself and DCC took a 407 in last week, still weighed 1000kg once we had relieved it of all the good bits, got ten quid for it!

we got 4x as much for the cat we chopped off it, and about the same again in lumps of alloy we had (casings rads engine mounts front subframe etc)

Apparently "China has collapsed" and wont be expanding like it did again any time soon... I've just given away a 106 and 306 shell (1/2 full of scrap) for zero pence.. Well they fooked my axel stands so it cost me £20

Oh no! :(

Yeah we weighed in the 407 I broke, £10 was its value. £10. For 1000kg.

Im sure it still pays to be a pikey though!

I've sold it for £20, and it's getting collected on Sunday!

Hope the guy brings some extra dough as i've got lots of bits (junk) that he can get away from outside dining room window, 4-2-1, double barrel stainless exhausts, lowerings springs etc etc.

The GF will be well happy ????

I can't believe this.....

I've just had an enquiry about the plate via National Numbers (where I have the plate advertised) on the car that's getting scrapped on Sunday.

Can you put it on retention?

If not what about cutting the vin off the shell and scrapping it as metal rather than a vehicle

I thought about that DCC, the guy who's taking the shell does autograss and that's what it's for, so there's no chance the car will ever see the road again. He's local and seems an alright guy, I think i'm just gonna tell him i'm in the middle of transferring the plate and give him a signed letter saying he owns the vehicle but I reserve the right to the plate, and have him sign a copy for me. I'll keep the V5.

Think that sounds ok?

Mines is T63 JMB, it was valued at £1850, but I told them to reduce it so I could get rid of it.

tbh if I got £100 in my hand i'd be happy..... but as it stood this morning i'd get £400, but I've now told them i'd take £350

The buyers current offer get's me £250
