The 205 Leak Prevention Bible.

I thought I would chuck this up in the hope we could all put our collective leak prevention methods in one place!?

Anything from the rear lights to the bulk head, what have you done to stop leaks? Maybe one day we will get our 205's dry, even more so this time of year.

1. Something I have always done is to remove aerial and thoroughly clean to ensure it doesn't leak.

2. Replace those sun roof washers, so cheap!

3. Fire away please guys!

Thanks, Ali

3.Sunroof drain tubes . They almost always look ok from the outside - drop the roof lining and check from the inside ! A good winter project , check the plastic pipes are free of blockages/leaks and replace the corroded pipe with stainless steel tubing .

4.Refit or replace the plastic sheet over the holes in the door pressing behind the door card .

I find leaks are in some ways inevitable unless you want to spend loads of money to buy new seals etc.

Much cheaper to make sure all drain holes are clear.

7. 205 and Ph2 309 rear screens are bonded in and this sealant often breaks down with age allowing water to leak into the boot , not an easy fix though . The 205 has a trim piece that slots into the gap round the tailgate glass .

make sure the scuttle panel is good nic (or present!) as it can leak down the blower hole.

Any more for any more? I would really like my van to be dry when its finished!

Most important. Check Ariel some cars have nearly set on fire due to water getting in the interior light/central locking receiver electrics
