cleggy 3 Posted January 1, 2016 Ive got one of these but drivers side anyone done a thread on what's involved in swapping?
Tom Fenton 1,536 Posted January 1, 2016 A lot of work to do it properly, unless the turret is rotten or damaged I would not personally fit the entire piece. It's easy enough to make a repair section for the area that usually goes rotten.
cleggy 3 Posted January 1, 2016 It's not rotten there's just a bit of a bend in the one that's on the car at the moment! Had the part a few years now in the house, been meaning to have a crack at it for ages
cleggy 3 Posted January 1, 2016 A bend I didn't notice when I bought it, the perils of buying in the dark I guess
Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted January 1, 2016 shouldn't be that bad to do but you will need to drill all welds from chassis leg to do and make a jig so everything lines up. you say its bent where as if its the chassis leg then fitting a new side wont loose bend.
welshpug 1,647 Posted January 1, 2016 Where's the bend? most likely ahead of the subframe mountings, better to get it on a jig and pull it straight, then fix any rust.
cleggy 3 Posted January 1, 2016 It's not the leg, it's a crumpled mess behind the headlight! Botched up by previous owner I think I'll post a picture in the morning, my mechanic mate wanted to cut a bit out of the new bit and stitch it in
Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted January 1, 2016 the leg goes all the way to headlight panel

Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted January 1, 2016 My thread may help you explain about half way down. http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=145396&page=
Tom Fenton 1,536 Posted January 1, 2016 I would not replace the turret for what you are describing. It would be like amputating your leg for an ingrowing toenail. Just repair the bit that needs it!
cleggy 3 Posted January 1, 2016 Haha sound I'll take a look!!
