Turbo Technics Conversion

Recommended Posts

danb89

Hi all,I have a 1.9 turbo technics conversion.

I am struggling to get it running correctly just wondered if anyone in the Lancashire area has a turbo technics or has experience with the 5th injector set up.

Does it need to go on a dyno to get set up properly ?

Should I be getting rid of 5th injector for a standalone ?

I am thinking of getting rid but I can't bring myself to sell it.

Tough choice. Originilatity is everything? Or bring it into the modern era?

^ exactly my problem (apart from funds) I like the origonality of the 5th injector but for practicality it needs the standalone.

The 5th injector when working correctly works better than you would expect it to.

The mappable Ecu is obviously superior but by the time it's been fitted wired and mapped, along with removing the standard air flow meter and repopong the intake, you will be well on the way to £2000+, so if you are on a budget that's no good.

When you say it isn't running right what are the problems and symptoms? The system is tacked onto the standard GTI fuel and ignition so you also need to ensure that is also working correctly. A TT car I did recently had numerous issues with both the standard fuel and ignition as well as 5th injector faults so took some sorting out, but once sorted drove well.

*repiping stupid bloody phone!

Hi pal thanks for the reply. As stated yes budget is a problem for me so standalone isn't viable.

I have checked afm changed a couple of injectors (not the 5th) tested coolant temp sensors I can sort of set it up to run ok when hot but won't run from cold and vise versa can't get a happy medium.

Also has a misfire as revving which seems to clear every now and again so changing the 5th injector may not be a bad shout.

Also. I've had the car nearly 5 years was sat in my unit for 4 years I got it running and had the turbo over hauled and a few other jobs but haven't had the time to do much now I'm getting the time to do it funds have disappeared so don't know whether to just cut it loose as I don't think I can do it justice

Sounds like it's the standard management at fault nothing to do with the TT stuff.
