Rear Quarter Seal Replacements

just stumbled across this website and was intrigued to see if the rear window seals are similar to any of these

 

i don't know the dimensions of the originals but maybe some can post them up

 

Would be very interesting to see if it is a match

Main issue is that the rear seals are formed to shape, with 2 90 degree corners in them. You wouldn't be able to replicate that with a universal seal, unless you cut and rejoin them.

I got a sample of that seal from that company a while ago. It's a bit smaller than the original seal but it looked like it would probably do the job.

 

But as GLP says you would need to make four very accurate 45° cuts to make the two 90° corners. The rep at that company thought it would be possible but I didn't go any further with it.

I used a seal from them for the boot, it was a little larger than OE, but worked well.

Surely it must be within a vehicle restorers capabilities to make replicas using off the shelf seals such as that? I am due to visit a local autobody shop to talk about metal work and paint soon so may see what they say about rear 3/4 seals.

 

Either that or I will be using the splice a bit in with adhesive method.

i was thinking the same,need some sort of 90 degree heat weld that when the 2 45's meet,it heats up and melts together.
