Recommended Posts

Good evening all! Just wondering what the 'maximum ' engine oil temp I should be looking at before it starts effecting the oil? Just wondering as I have am oil to air cooler at the moment, but am seeing 120 degrees on a less than hit day. Many thanks

Matt

What oil are you using? For ref Mine only hits around 110-115 max on a trackday but that is with a 16 row cooler using 10-50

I'm not sure of the heat range 10w/40 can cope with but I'm pretty certain it's not that hot, 120 may well have knackered the oil.

Much bigger oil cooler required and *w/50 or 60 oil, I aim to keep it no more than 100 degrees personally.

I agree. I am for 100-105, so that any moisture is removed.

Ok thank you for the ideas, im obviously going to need another, larger cooler, just all getting a little hot and crammed in under the bonet due to the intercooler, oil coolers and rad. I guess cooling the engine oil would also help with engine coolant temps too. Don't suppose anyone on here has much experience with Evans waterless coolant?

Cheers and happy new year!

Hi,

I can't help with any answers, but would also be interested in people's experience with Evans waterless coolant as I am thinking of giving it a try.
