Rear Bush And Fuel Pump....

Recommended Posts

What rear engine bush are people using for the gti6 conversion to limit the engine movement? solid ally 'bush' or the baker bm type?

Also, is the standard fuel pump good enough or is it worthwhile upgrading it?

a good standard pump is good for mid 200's, most use the bbm solid rubber lower mounting.

Phase 2 pumps seem to be more of a issue, the earlier ones not so much, Yes you can buy them new from the dealers but your looking around £500.00, Try Glencoe for a pump.

Mounts these days I always use Vibra Techenic's or you can get away with a std one rotated 90 degrees if you have enough D/P room

im unsure witch pump i have as i stole the original sender unit from it to get a rallye running and never got round to swapping it back.

Then bought a second hand sender unit but to rewire it as the plug was different.

If i was to have to press the bush out to turn it 90 degrees i think i would rather replace it, when i was younger we always used to fill the gaps in the bush with tigerseal on the old corsa turbo conversions, but i kind of thought that would be a bodge considering you can buy a bush now for around £30

I have the Maniflow manifold, its not the race version but is still quite close to the bar thats on the rear of the subframe, when pulling away it knocks on it slightly

If your running a 4-2-1 then a hard rubber bush is a must, I know the maniflow ones really are too long from the 3 I have seen and have a odd bend in the middle which gets the pipes close to the bulkhead seem and the length has the issue you have

I had a VT lower mount but still noticed movement (with new OE upper mounts, i popped gear linkage twice braking heavily from 90ish). So fitted VT upper mounts and GrpN gear linkage, problem solved.

The manifold fits really well for the size of the pipes, isnt close to the bulk head at all, just where it goes into two its close to the rear part of the subframe
