Which Bolts?

Recommended Posts

benny205mi16

Hi,

Just fitting my cambelt and I have noticed the tensioners have different bolts, see photo,

Which one is the correct one?

I guess it does not really matter, but I would like to fit the correct ones if I can get another.

It's a 1.9 mi16.

Thanks

Ben

I am guessing that it's the one on the right,

Also hoping as it just apeals to me more.

right hand would have been the original type, however not an issue to use the Hex head screw on the right, some would say preferable due to the socket head bolts being prone to rounding off.

Thanks for the answer,

I have now found another of the right hand type in a tub of bolts that came with the engine. So I'll go for them as I have a pair.

I never reuse the ones on the right, I always replace them with the style on the left.

As above I wouldn't fit the allen key bolts, they are renowned for rounding off. Pug have even swapped them out for Hex bolts now apparently. I would find another 13mm hex bolt to fit.

Thanks for the advise, I'll get a pair of hex bolts and fit these instead.
