What Suspension Is Fitted On My Car

Recommended Posts

kb_205

Hi,

Have been looking online and found this image that seems to be the same as the suspension currently on my 1.9gti

I was curious as to what brand it is (if any)

A picture of your actual dampers would help. Could be Koni (top adjustable), Billies, Spax, Gmax. Look for any numbers stamped or remains of stickers.

Yes I know what your saying but i haven't seen any that can be fitted to both sides before like this!

And they are in the same colours so would lead me to think there can't be too many the same as this!,

I can't see any markings, thinking maybe they could of had an old sticker that came off over time.

They look pretty old! I doubt a refresh would hurt.

Not seen ambidextrous dampers for a 205 though.

Jamex also springs to mind, I think they made dampers with droplink mountings on both sides, not very good quality though.

Yes they are pretty shaggy looking,

Will be renewing for some nice equipment next year,

My car is a gti6 for road use and occasional track day so not sure for the best set up yet

Possibly bilstein grp N with Tarmac springs what do you think?

The Group N tarmac/eibach spring combo is a great setup for road/occ. track work. Combined with stiffer TB and ARB (i run 21mm TB, 24mm ARB and 306 gti rear arms), will give you a fairly stiff and neutral handling car.
