1.6 Atb Gearbox - Offside Wheel Binding?

Advice please. '87 1.6 Gti Rally Car with what initially seemed to be a sticking / binding Offside Front brake caliper (Offside Wheel turns when up in air, however very very stiff to rotate). Upon closer inspection, suspected caliper wasn't binding, so have removed the caliper to check wheel rotation, yet with caliper/pads removed, the wheel is still very very stiff to rotate. The nearside wheel rotates freely. Running an Quaife ATB diff. Does anyone know if this is a symptom of something wrong in the gearbox - Car drives / changes gear ok etc.., all be it the gearbox does seem slightly noisy (rattle).

Have you removed the driveshaft to check it isn't a tight wheel bearing?

Tom - Thank you for your advice. It was the Wheel Bearing. New wheel bearing (Thanks to AB Motorsport) and all sorted.
