Ecu Loom Route- From Bulkhead To Ecu

Recommended Posts

cRaig

Odd question, but I've recently refitted the ECU loom to my car, and can't quite remember how it is routed under the dash up to the ECU tray. I copied the original loom, but I seem to have a suspiciously large amount of wiring length to get rid of! I took out my old loom slightly too long ago to remember clearly!

Anyone have a couple of pics of their wiring with the under dash part out of the way? Or can describe it in a convincing manner!?

Cheers,

Craig

There's a piece of flat trunking type thing clipped to the top of the column bracket.

Ah yes, I know the bit you mean. Unfortunately mine mostly seems already pretty full (admittedly I have added a few extra wires!) May have to try just securing it with cable ties next to it.

It goes behind the main dashboard section Craig, where there's a black rectangular plastic loom clip - it's not U-shaped one in front of the main dashboard section that the instrument cluster loom runs inside if that's what you're thinking.

The problem with the original injection loom routing is that you need to partly remove the whole dashboard to remove and refit the loom, which is a pain (although in theory not something that you should need to be regularly doing!)

When I refit I tend to route it through the metalwork of the steering column support which keeps it tidy and out of the way, but makes removal and refit a doddle because you don't need to touch the dashboard other than the lower panel that covers the lower part of the column and pedal box.

Thanks guys, I was tempted to run it through the hole in the column metalwork, but it looked like a fiddle to get the chunky ecu plug and all the relays though easily! :D I've run it up and over, next to the flat wiring holder, looks like a sensible run and has used up the length of loom, which was my main concern!

Now just to run the vacuum hose and fill it with coolant...!
