Thread Type On The Bolts For Seat Belts To Chassi?

Recommended Posts

For the 405, but I believe it's the same for 205.

I believe these are not metric threads? If anyone knows which threads they are I would appreciate it :)

Need to move battery to the rear on the 405, and will try to put the main earth to one of these bolts. Need a tap first to clean out the threads to make proper steel-to-steel contact, hence need to know what tap to buy :)

Thanks

7/16UNF, standard across all vehicles, not sure if it's still the case on modern stuff.

Thanks. Know if the bolts are grade 8.8 too or higher strength? Guess I need to order a longer bolt, in addition to a nut too...

Imperial fasteners don't follow the same strength classes as metric. They have letters instead.

Ok, will try to dig out a bolt and see if I can find a letter then :)

Thanks for your help.

To make it challenging there won't be a letter on the head, but a series of dashes. More dashes = higher tensile. From memory S grade is high tensile and has 6 dashes on the head.

servicebox usually gives fastener dimensions, these are from the front seats -

8978 99 SAFETY BELT SCREW 7/16X20-8,5

8978 H1 SAFETY BELT SCREW 7/16X20-16

8978 EH FIXING BOLT 7/16"20 LONG 16

8978 S8 SAFETY BELT SCREW 7/16IN X20 LONG 16

on the face of it look identical, but as you probably know from dismantling a 405 that there are varying shanks and shoulders.

if you need a longer bolt the lower rear outer seat belt has the longest of the standard fixings, don't know if that's long enough for you?
