Peugeot 1.6 Cti - Oil In Intake Manifold ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Tonight I was doing something on my car, and noticed oil in intake manifold? What could cause that ? Not so much oil , but enough to bother...

Inside the inlet manifold? If its inside I dont think its a concern - the breather pipes always have a bit of oil in ( at least in my car). So unless there is loads of oil i wouldnt worry.

Noticed the same with my CTi when I had the throttle body off recently. Assumed, as stated above, that as it's effectively part of the oil breather circuit, that it wasn't to worry about. Seems odd though that it should settle, and not be sucked into the combustion chambers.

Mate lets be honest, a little oil vapour isnt going to harm anything. However, when your oil breathers break and you end up with the greasiest engine bay ever to be seen, you will often think about lighting a match and doing away with the whole car.

Thanks for the answers. Now I have "weird " problem... My idle is surging, it is erratic. When I pump the brakes , rpms goes up 200-300, I ve checked everything. I ve also changed another brake booster and check valve, problem is the same. Changed also TPS , what is the right way to adjust TPS ? Will I have some problem, if I block pipe from check valve to inlet manifold, to see if problem disepiers ? Also notice when I press brake pedal you can hear squish noise , but pedal is not hard, and braking is ok. It was on both brake boosters ?

It's normal for the idle RPM to change when you pump the brakes, they all do that!

The effect may be more noticeable when you have other issues causing a bad idle but there is nothing wrong with your brakes.

Do you have a Haynes manual? It describes setting up the throttle and TPS in detail and it is critical to get those right.

Yes, some noise is normal, but unless we all compare our cars using dB meters it is impossible to say if yours is normal over the internet.

It wont be fuelling correctly at all points in the rev range, you do need the correct AFM. Or if you can get a 1.9 ECU and injectors to complete the set that will work too, just don't mix and match 1.6 and 1.9 parts.
