After finally finishing off the Gti6 conversion project in my other thread and putting her away in the garage I thought that was it, job done! But as you do (we all know we do it!) I was looking around seeing what's out there and saw this engine come up for sale while on holiday in Greece...I knew I had to have it!

I picked the engine up from Sussex and found it while browsing eBay on holiday

 

Got a couple more teaser picks before I put up the whole spec. Also started buying a some fuel parts I needed, bought a 1.5 litre swirl pot, Bosch 044 fuel pump, two sytec filters with high and low pressure filter elements, turbo smart FPR, fuel pressure gauge and a few sytec mounts...

The cam belt covers have been cut down to the bottom of the pulleys so should be ok, I think!

Buy any of the running gear etc he had for sale too? (Mostly satchel stuff iirc).

Yeah that's the one Giles, he had already broken down and sold most of the other suspension parts etc and only had odd bits left.

 

We spoke about the engine for a while and I weighed up how much this sort of spec would cost me if I were to build it so eventually we came to a price we were both happy with.

WP is concered about the oulley covers as they can prove vital.

 

I learnt the hard way as a kid. Had them off to look cool. Somehow a stone/nut/bolt something was flung into the timing area and pop went the weasel. Get some covers on the for insurance.

 

Very nice spec engine. Should be an absolute weapon! Will sound awesome, espexially with those larger valves!

Started on the fuel system first and then swapped over the engine.

It's been a long time, everything seems to get in the way! I've made some progress, engine is in and the exhaust has been made. It's taking a while getting the rad and oil cooler in place with the fans as want it looking fairly standard and original. I'll have a look for some pics.
