steve@cornwall 100 Posted November 29, 2015 Yesterday was certainly eventful. A full grown oak tree fell on the A39 yesterday fully blocking both carriageway and closing the main road from Truro to Falmouth for many hours. Unfortunately it fell on our new punto as we were driving home !!! Both my wife and I were taken by ambulance to local hospital where,thank God, we were checked over and discharged very battered and bruised but very very lucky.Not seen the poor car yet but towing garage tells me the front end looks "unreal" both front wheels have crushed under the weight of the tree and I have a branch "straight through the engine block" The main trunking flat on the bonnet directly at the base of the windscreen. We were stopped instantly! Shows what modern cars can withstand and it doesn't bare thinking about the outcome had we taken the 205 . steve@cornwall 100 Posted November 30, 2015 Take a close look at first pic. It shows the radius of the trunk!!!!! Lucky to survive....let alone walk away. Puntos getting scarce now as they are being replaced by New model and have a 12 week lead time and I have no loan car because it's not being repaired ffs. steve@cornwall 100 Posted December 2, 2015 Think we've used up all our lives worth of luck there. We saw from the car that had we been a few inches up or down the road things would have been terribly different, but from the "down the road " pics it seems that a little to the left on the road would have been catastrophic! Apparently, highways have only recently inspected the tree as they had noticed it starting to lean! But concluded it was "probably" safe.(from local resident) Does anyone have experience of gleaning such information from highways/ councils? Maybe freedom of information ? If negligent I may attempt to recover uninsured losses (mainly earnings. Now getting to grips with the insurance paperwork......not fun. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
