What Max Size Wheel And Tyre? 309 Gti

Hi all

 

I need to know what max size wheel and tyre would be ok on a 309 gti. It will be used on a rolling road only so wheels need not turn so as long as they clear in straight position its ok.

 

further I have some 17" with 205-60 tyres. Big I know, but would they fit with wheels pointed forwards?

There is quite a lot of clearance around the front wheels on a 309 , its the rears that are tighter especially when its lowered . Would be interesting to see what a 309 looked like with tyres of that size .If the rolling radius of the new wheels and tyres is very different would it not alter the gearing and the rolling road readout might not be reliable .

Spring pans would be the issue I think as Welsh says.
