Thoughts on the old saxo, cracking little motor, going for very little money these days, reminds when the 205's were plentiful and cheap, anyone think these will be on the up in years to come?

Unquestionably, for the same reason that 205s and other 80s stuff is going up now.

106s and Saxos were the attainable quick car of that era and the first hot hatch for many people who'll look back fondly on them and want another, especially as they were one of the last lightweight NA hot hatches.

I don't think it'll be for a few years, but prices are currently rock bottom and will go up once numbers have been thinned out. Indeed, its already happening to a point - look at S1 106 Rallyes and see the money they'll now fetching compared to 2-3 years back.

I reckon a tidy unmolested low mileage/owner 106 GTi or Saxo VTS would be a very smart buy if you want something fun in the short term that'll be an investment of sorts medium term.

Agreed , they are the bargain of the moment . Lots of rough/tracked or max-powered ones out there going by the ads but if I had space to store a car long term it would be a VTR / VTS , 106 GTI or even a 306 GTI6 which will all be gone soon going by the state of most I have seen .There is never an empty barn around when you need one !
