Jenvey Questions

Recommended Posts

Been doing a lot of reading up on Jenveys on here as looking to get some for my 205 gti6 will be getting a high comp built engine from a friend at a later date but he's keeping his bodies so I'll need a set so may as well get em on for now.

I had Jenveys on my 306 a few years back all supplied/installed by miles but this time round I've tried to do everything at home to keep costs to a minimum so just after a bit of advice on the parts needed as they seem to vary through the threads I've read

I've already ordered a satchel inlet and will be using omex as its preferred by local mapper

But with regards to the Jenveys I see some people run 118 and some run 90's any reasoning behind chosing one or the other?

Also what other little bits are needed I.e tps? Coil? Pressure reg? Linkages? Fuel rail?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Best bet is to buy a ready made omex kit for your engine omex supply a ready imade item comes with a 600 ecu inlet loom tps a pre mapped ecu to get you up and running I think only bit you don't get is throttle cable. Price is about 1800 but if you consider the cost buying individual item I think pretty good value have a look

I disagree wholeheartedly regarding buying a kit, they all come with the same awful longman/jenvey inlet manifold, overly complicated linkage systems.

get the direct pull type when you order the bodies, fabricate a simple cable outer stop bracket, save £80

if you run a satchel inlet then you can run the standard fuel rail and regulator, saves a lot of messing and money, also makes twin injectors a doddle.

the only reason to use different lengths of bodies is space constraints.

I've already ordered a satchel inlet so that's a definite.

Also on that note. I notice with that inlet some people run the Jenveys upside down and some the correct way? I.e my old one was upside down but I notice day66 on the gti6 forum runs the bodies the correct way up?

Am I right in thinking omex 600 can only do 4 injectors?

I did look into the omex kit but again main reason I avoided was because of the manifold decision other than that it does seem the most comprehensive kit about

there isnt a "correct way" you fit them whchever way workst, with the curve and length of the inlet and space constraints having the furthest set underneath works well I believe, Sandy could expand on that if you ask nicely.

dta s40 will do twin injectors, not sure on 600, quite possibly not

Oh ok that makes a bit more sense.

Is there any real gain at this level fitting twin injectors? I.e looking into it id need to go to a omex 710 in order to run them so £300 extra? I do however have 2 sets of gti6 injectors in the garage.

10 years ago yes. Now no. Modern injectors have much better spray patterns which negate the advantages and complexities of two banks. Just buy a complete setup from Colin. I'm staggered at the power and torque that I got from Parry's engine at lower than expected RPM's.

do you run different injectors then or stick with gti6 ones?

What other parts are needed if buying seperate items? i.e linkage, fpr, fuel rail etc assuming using a satchell manifold and 1 set of injectors on the bodies

Don't need a linkage as per my post, makes it much neater.

the original fpr is ideal, just a holder needed if not using the original rail, Colin has supplied these, dont know if they have any stock at the moment but they were much cheaper than jenvey.

Right I've managed to pick up a set of bodies now and a omex so looking to install over Christmas as I'm due to get my manifold any day soon. Only things I'm missing is a air temp sensor and throttle potentiometer.

Can the original air temp sensor be used?

Also with the throttle pot I've been looking at penny and Giles ones but if I'm mounting the bodies upside down what 1 do I need?

I used a different air sensor.

I've got a penny and Giles POT, mounts pretty easily. It's Hall effect too.

Do you know which one. There either left or right handed but with the bodies being upside down does the potentiometer go upside down also is the bit I'm not sure on also I'm not sure which side they call left or right I.e if your looking at the front of the car or sat inside?

Bodies are normal way up on mine and the POT is one the battery side.

I'll go and find out.
