Tdc Sensor

Just been cleaning some crud off my 1.9 gti XU motor and somehow managed to dislodge what I'm guessing is the TDC sensor. It has a three wires (green red and black) and a brown plug on the end which was attached to the cam cover but not plugged into anything.

 

I'm guessing this is some kind of redundant diagnostic thingy. Would like to put it back into the square hole on the top of the box but after struggling for ages I've no idea how it goes back in position. There seems to be a weird shaped clamp around the round sensor.

 

A photo or any advice would be appreciated

My advice would be, put it directly in the bin!

Cheers Tom, I thought that would be the advice, having wasted ages trying to figure out how to get it back in place I didn't want to give up!
