What do you guys swear by when it comes to RTV sealant during engine builds?

Im swaying towards locktite 37460, but thats only really because it has locktite in the name.

I like the Wurth pressured tube, just because it lasts for ages, only the top bit of the spout goes off, so you can pull this out and use it time after time. If I buy a large cartridge tube I get maybe 2 or 3 uses out of it before it turns into a dildo in a plastic tube and goes in the bin.

Granville RTV. Available online and some proper motor factors. Better at high temp than most and available in black or clear.

Loctite quick gasket as sold in halfords in the 200ml tube. I've used this a few times for work and cars. It's never let me down and the tube is reusable.

I dont open the nozzle end of a cartridge, i pull the base plug out with pliers, get out what i want and put it back.

Push it in on the piss and then pivot it down to seal.

It lasts about a year or so, as you use it up cut the cylinder down with a stanley knife.

Maybe the actual goo formulations different so it lasts longer?

Works for me.

wurth loctite or wynns, whichever I can get when I need some, they've all done the job, not a fan of hylomar or any of the usual motorfactor cheap stuff.

It still lasts and doesnt turn into the afore-mentioned dildo

May just be the formulation.

i like this stuff much better than the rhoderseal i used before.

Okay, have bought some Wurth RTV, so time for a stupid question;

On these engines, how much do you use and where..? Both sides of all gaskets (except head presumably), and just a smear..?

I've also got a baffled sump so unsure if to put gasket between block-and-baffle or baffle-and-sump..

Any advice welcome, thanks
