Oil In Plug Wells 1.9 Engine

Recommended Posts

Had a chance to pull the plug leads recently and realized that there's oil in the plug wells for the number 2 and 3 plugs. What could be the cause of this? Do I need a new head gasket? Or something more sinister?

leaking camshaft cover gasket, nothing sinister.

Cheers. Glad to hear. Besides the oil, what symptoms should I be experiencing? I wonder if this could explain some of the issues I'm getting.

Unlikely. The only symptom is leaking/seeping oil for the cover gasket. It only has the one function.

It can lead to a misfire depending on how much oil there is on the plugs, obviously. I had this with my mi16.

The oil rots the ignition leads if you leave it too long.

OK. Thanks for the quick responses. Will try to source a new gasket for the cover.

Sorry to hijack the thread but whilst on the topic of gaskets, I think I have a leaking rocket gasket, are there good or bad makes or will any do ?
