Gti6 Engine Help!

Recommended Posts

frobes2

Sorry to post here but need some advice..

The back cam belt cover nut dropped into the pulleys and belt and snapped my cambelt whilst driving, I so was thinking what is the best course of action?!..

Obviously, take the head off and check the damage.. would it be best just to get another second hand head and drop it on the top or to buy new valves etc.

I have searched the forum but have seen no engines available, would have loved the GTi6 engine, gearbox and turbo off the track car that was sold a couple of months back. Also what would be the best mods to do whilst the engine is apart?!..

Thanks again for any help..

Scott..

Youre looking at £350 for head skim, valves, gaskets and other consumables if you do the work yourself.

If you have some money to spend maybe look at some nice expensive pistons and rods, then some cams, throttle bodies and ecu.

Alternatively speak to mike (aka blandy) nicely about his supercharger kit for sale, he may even part with the head of his engine...

So, engine stripped and done all exhaust valves and four inlet..

Pistons are ok but would like a set of cams or some small upgrade whilst it's apart any suggestions?!

I've also heard the bottom pulley seal can move so maybe an Mi replacement?!

Any ideas of what I can do at this moment in time?!

Thanks for your help...

For a bottom pully speak to Rich at Lynx Engineering for a solid alloy item. Not sure on cams, but general idea is anything worth doing will need valve cut outs to the pistons. So maybe worth it if you have pistons out already? Whatever you do its never cheap!

Thanks again, I've e-mailed Lynx so look forward to getting that sorted and might have to wait for any other mods at the mo..

It will be up for sale now as plans have changed so just want to get it running well and looking good for the next owner!!
