How Long Do You Think.......

Recommended Posts

HI All

How long do you think it will take a competent mechanic to fit a new brake servo and master cylinder, makeup and fit rear pipes, fit new compensators and the 4 flexi rear hoses....

Oh, and fit track rod ends, a new bonnet release cable and oil change...

I am hiring a mechanic friend for 8 hrs tomorrow....Do you think it can be done or not? No major rush and I wont really be much use either...

doable, but dont be surprised if you need more than a whole roll of brake pipe especially if its a 1.9..

personally I'd do away with the last small hoses and plumb it like any newer french car that used the same caliper.

What engine? 8v servo's are easy, 16v ones bit more of a pain, rear lines means tank dropping as well, as WP said the main issues with the rear pipes (is I love the word 'Mechanic' (Sorry)) generally put them on so they rub on the inner arch so the solid lines should do away with that issue and have less joins too

All sorted - got all the jobs done for the brakes at least - with the new compensators the brakes feel amazing, really progressive and sharp, now that the rear brakes are not being overloaded with excessive force....There was only 1 compensator on the OS and nothing on NS!!!
