None of the £7,000 spent seems to have gone on the driver's bolster, which he's purposefully tried to exclude from the pics...looks like it lost a fight with a lion!

I've seen that so many times, I don't know why people think they'll get away with it, if someone turns up to buy it they are going to notice and be disappointed by it.

It's literally the first thing I look for in a 205 advert, if they are hiding the drivers bolster they are probably hiding other stuff too.

To be fair this one does at least show the bolster even if the angles are a bit contrived. There have been many 205 ads that simply crop the bolsters out of all the photos.

To be fair, the bolster is comparative small fry compared to the sill... you'll note that there wasn't a single picture of the drivers side of the car posted initially and only a passing mention of it in the text.

Maybe I'm cynical, but I can't believe that was in any way, shape or form accidental and if something that obvious and fundamental has been glossed over like that it puts into question everything else that's been said and how economical with the truth the seller has been...

Bloody Nora, I had only looked at the top pics. The only time I've ever seen a sill like that was Allan's old rally car. It was only the Peugeot sealant holding it together.

Once cut off all the area inboard near the fuel tank was also rotten. Repairable yes, but not on a car that's priced as that is! For that kind of price it would need to be all sorted, nothing missing or not working.

Why the f*** would you spend 7k on all that and not sort a rotten sill and rotten boot floor and even spend money on a load of cosmetic stuff for what is clearly a rotten car. Mental.

stop crying over a rusty sill!!! The car is 25 years old! If your going to buy a classic car then buy a welder too.

Why in gods name would you not do the structural work first, what's the point in putting shiny bits in a rotten turd when a lot of money has clearly been spent else, it just does not compute

Seems to be a lot of accusations and assumptions being made on the basis of just the photos and listing alone. I'd normally join in when it's obvious the seller is blatant c*nt/moron, but on this occasion I don;t seem to be on the same wave length as you guys.

He doesn't explain why the sill is like it is, but does mention the car had a bare shell respray previously. If it were rotten, surely that would have been picked up in the process. If it weren't rotten then, would it really have got this bad in the last few years (assuming that's the time frame since respray)? Perhaps the sill was physically damaged by accident since. I don;t know, and I'm guessing you guys don't either. So why are some of you confidently saying it's a rotten car? That's a strong accusation, and if it's based on first hand knowledge then maybe better to put up or shut up

I also can't see how he's trying to hide the bolster wear. He hasn't shown any specific pictures of it, but neither is it hidden. You can clearly see there is some damage! And he mentions it as a flaw in the later added details.

On this occasion without solid evidence of f***witedness, deliberate misdirection, or first hand knowledge of the car in the flesh, I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Is it worth £3.5k? Possibly, to the right person, if the rest of it is in good condition and that £7k spent still carries some relevant value, and if the remaining work can be done for not much more money and have a really tidy example. Bolster wear is a cheap and easy fix, sill replacement is no drama in the right hands I would have thought, and the paint match will probably be OK since it's been resprayed already, brakes again probably a cheap and easy fix. And the boot being plated? Without seeing it, how is that a reason to call it rotten? How many 205s don't have grotty boots? C'mon!

I'm going to partially back-track on some of my comments having looked at it again. Does seem as if the sill is a victim to rot rather than damage, and that along with the boot floor comments make me wonder about the overall quality of the respray it had (i.e. what corners were cut?). So no, for me I wouldn't pay £3.5k given current values, even if I could sort the rest out for another £500. Maybe £2.5k if the rest of it was OK. But until you go and have a first hand poke around, none of know how little or much work the car needs.

There's a 'What's its worth' thread on here posted on 7th January in general car chat about it. I just cannot cut and paste it, few more images and the drivers sill looked ok back then?

Wee bit strange to invest that much in parts if the shell's not sound, definitely one to look at before parting with any hard earned.

we all know cars look better in pics too . I would be rather concerned about the paint with the area's he has highlighted all ready . surely a good paint job should last years .

nice car for someone but not at that price

saying that you can never go higher once you have dropped the price

If i was him would finish it then sell it

Thought you were better than that... You forgot to mention cramming it with newspaper first.

Sadly rich is not known for his work quality, but rather the opposite. Stories of rallye stickers slapped on gti6's too... Amongst various (copious) other dealings people have had with him.

Barge-pole the man and his car, well maybe not as you'll likely make more holes.

Most of those parts came from his stock pile so really the spend I would say is low, Dent in the sump no ones said about and the horn's on the inner wing, that's just plan lazy, Value no more than a grand due to the amount of work needed to put right and no doubt when seen in the flesh more issues would arise but it happens when people who know little details about car's start repairing them

Dent in the sump

Did notice that but forgot to mention.

I too also didn't scroll all the way through his numerous updates where he forgot to add many things and only just saw the sill. Christ, I thought mine was currently bad but that is ridiculous! With that alone, I wouldn't pay £1,500 for it.

Also, for me the spoiler knocks value off rather than adding it.
