Gearbox Identifying Number Location

Hi,

 

i suspect that my gearbox is not the BE3/5 gearbox that should be on my 205 gti 1.6 (1992).

is there any marking on the casing that tell me what is it? ( i know that BE3/5 was install on other models than the GTI)

 

can you please add the specific location ( A PICTURE IS PREFERRED)

Gearbox ID is marked on the casing. The different types are stamped in a faint dot matrix format and easy to miss especially if the box is dirty.

spot on! i got the numbers (there is an "A" right after the upper number - you can see half of it in the picture)
