Xs Mid Corner Miss Fire

Recommended Posts

P I Staker

My XS seems to suffer heavily from fuel starvation when cornering quickly. I'm not talking flat out either just if you're making decent progress.

It happens with a full tank of fuel so I don't think it's an in tank problem.

Is this something that can happen with these carburettors?

I don't know much about carbs but I suspected something like this.

Cheers!

I had exactly the same with my old xs and as said it was a split in the float, not very difficult to replace either, I think the problem might be trying to find a replacement now though.

Solex are crap in my opinion, had 2 with this issue one would die when the engine got hot. Swapped to a weber and never looked back!

common problem, could just be the float level needs re setting. Haynes manual covers it im sure.

Not sure what he uses, but the DGAS was a popular mod a few years ago. Nothing wrong with a correctly working solex though.

Cheers, been trying to find out a bit more info. My solex works ok never touched it though, was planning to rebuild it at some point but if a DGAS bolts on and makes the car more powerfull its an idea.

Stick a set of side draughts on if you want proper carbs!,
